Kansas scored through Davy Arnaud after 11 minutes and Dimitri Berbetov equalised from a penalty. The Americans had a man sent-off four minutes before the break. Kei Kamara to subjected United to an embarrassing defeat 2 minutes later.

It’s another that monied English Premiership giants Manchester City suffered another shock defeat to smart New York Red Bulls of the Major Soccer League in the United States of America. Dane Richards struck a superb 25-yard winner in a 2-1 defeat.

Man City suffered a 2-0 loss to Sporting Lisbon and were behind to the Red Bulls as early as the seventh minute after Macoumba Kandji’s opener but Jo scored for City 11 minutes after the break. Richards struck the decisive goal in 71st minute.

Manchester City, with the bucks, seem desperate to get over-rated Liverpool striker Fernando Torres, and for £60 million for that matter.

Meanwhile, my new home, Tottenham Hotspurs came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw against Sporting in an exciting end to their pre-season North American tour.

Harry Redknapp’s side opened the scoring through Robbie Keane on 23 minutes with finishing classily following an incisive through-ball from Nico Kranjcar. The equaliser came from Jonathan Obika

  1. Fernando Torres is not over-rated….he is a class striker….a poor spell together with injury does not make him bad overnight…

    • While I am frankly not a Liverpool fan for now, I have always been a sympathiser and admirer of plenty of their players. Believe me, I tried to be a fan of Torres. He has some class in him I agree, but still, barring his injuries or his World Cup blues, for his status he has failed to convince he can turn a game on its head single-footedly. He may have in a game or two, which is not enough if he has to stay in the league of Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo, Messi, Arjen Robben and Wesleey Sniejder. A one time 100% Liverpool supporter I was, I really want him to convince me as these other guys have.
