Bevan Chikaka came off the bench to clinch all three points for Bosso in a tightly contested match at BF this afternoon. The coalminers clearly had no intentions of attacking today, they played with a lone striker and the rest of the team ‘parked the bus’. It took patience on the part of Highlanders to methodically break down the resolute defence and that duly happened in the 83rd minute.
Our first chance came in the second minute when Hariten Masuku, who had a bad day in office found himself in space in the 18yard box but shot tamely @ Timothy Sibanda. Try as they might Hwange stood firm at the back with the only point of note being referee Mlindeli Ndebele who had a shocker. The man in the middle made qustionable calls the entire afternoon and would definitely want to quickly forget this game. He was just pipped by Mthulisi Maphosa for man of the match. Hwange players were too physical in their tackles which went unpunished.
The second half continued in similar fashion with the visitors shutting out our raids. Kelvin Kaindu once again showed his awesome tactical awareness coming up with game changing substitutions. Mambare, Chikaka & Ndiweni all came in and ran rings around the tiring defenders.
Vastly improved Bruce Kangwa delivered the telling cross seven minutes from time which Chikaka did justice to with a firmly struck header. The celebrations lasted for well over two minutes before resumption of play again. Hwange were frustrated by the goal as they then resorted to violence. Their defender elbowed Mambare off the ball and was sent off. The coach was also sent to the stands.
ARIEL had an off day. Not a single shot saved.
B TSHUMA his crosses were disappointing. They all went behind the goal. He defended well though.
B KANGWA is enjoying a new lease of life at left back. Closed down well and his forays forward resulted in an assist for him.
MDZINGWA plays simple football. He was once again unyielding.
MAPURANGA tracked the Hwange danger man all day. He is the reason why Ariel was on holiday today.
MTHULISI once again the Man Of the Match was involved in thwarting and initiating attacks.
PETER our find of the season was his calm self in the middle of the park and his passing is second to none.
MILTON was quiet today though never put a foot wrong.
MUNAWA tired out badly in the second half.
MASUKU today was not on song. Nothing went his way.
GRAHAM tried all he could but ultimately the Big Defenders came tops.
